G23 vs G19: same length, same barrel and nearly the same height. The G23 trades 2 rounds of capacity for the larger .40 cartridge, and it is heavier loaded.
G23 vs G27: the Glock 27 is the subcompact .40, with a shorter slide and a shorter grip that holds 9 rounds. Gen 5 slide width. Glock's G23 Gen5 page says the slide width of its Gen5 .40 S&W models "is slightly bigger compared to the previous generation" and asks owners to consider this when choosing a holster. Glock's spec tables show 1.08 inches for the Gen 5 against 1.0 inch for the Gen 4.
Separate molds. Vedder sells separate Glock 23 Gen 3/4 and Gen 5 holsters, and so does We The People (Gen 1-4 and Gen 5). Whatever holster you buy, check that its listing names your generation.
Gen 3 vs Gen 4 length. Glock lists the Gen 3 G23 at 7.36 inches long and the Gen 4 and Gen 5 at 7.28 inches.
